25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Crystal Green conducted an unannounced case management- licensee initiated inspection to evaluate the facility's request to add a toddler option program. Licensing staff met with Director, Judy Mena who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Licensee is requesting to decrease the preschool capacity by removing a classroom and add a new toddler option program.
This preschool has a total of 6 classrooms. Per Director, there are requesting to remove classroom 1 from the preschool use and convert to toddler use under the new toddler option program. At 11:10 AM, Licensing staff was guided through a tour of the proposed toddler option classroom. LPA observed the classroom to be split into two sides (Room 1A and Room 1B). No changes have been made to the exterior or interior of the facility. The facility was observed operating. LPA observed the toddler classroom area to be physically separate from the preschool classrooms. There are age-appropriate toys available for children in care. Furniture and equipment were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic-free. LPA observed drinking water available via water cooler with disposable cups available in the classroom.
LPA observed the toddler area to have a designated restroom space. There is also a changing table located within arms reach of a sink. There is also changing pads located in each classroom. All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions.
Licensing staff was guided through outdoor space. At this time, the outdoor space is designated for preschoolers use only. Per Director, the facility would like to request a waiver for the toddlers to share the outdoor space with the preschoolers using a staggered play schedule. The outdoor play equipment was observed to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Outdoor activity space surface is maintained in a safe condition as is free of hazards. There is adequate shade in the outdoor play area. |
