Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Dayna Chambers conducted an unannounced annual inspection to the above facility on January 17, 2023. LPA arrived at the facility at 9:15AM and met with Grecia Merida, Site Director, Angelica, Cortez, Associate Executive Director YMCA and Giselle Briones, Program Coordinator who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. No children were present during this inspection.
This is a school-age program located on the premises of Los Cerritos Elementary school. This program is a before and after school program. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:30am – 9:00am and again at 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Center uses Room #18 for children, the auditorium located next to Room #18 and attached is the school cafeteria. The children use the fenced school playground. There are 130 children that are currently enrolled. A current children’s roster was available for review. All adults present have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption and are associated to the center prior to working at the center.
Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Floors are clean and safe. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions are kept in a storage room inaccessible to children Note: Any Poisons shall be kept locked. The primary lighting source is overhead lighting. Drinking water is a dispenser and cups. There are drinking containers in the classrooms for children to drink as they wish. Restrooms are gender specific clean and odor free. There is an adequate supply of toilet paper, paper towels, and soap. All restroom fixtures are height appropriate for children. Staff have their own restroom located by the playground. LPA advised that if a child shows signs of illness, he/she/they shall be separated from other children. The isolation area for ill children is in the auditorium area. The facility has a food program who provides the snacks and meals for the children. The facility serves a PM snack and Dinner. Menus are posted monthly and were reviewed. Trash bins to discard food have tight fitting lids.
Outdoor activity play area is comprised of cement and turf cushioning material, which surrounds the climbing equipment. During outdoor activities, a water container and cups are provided for children to drink.
The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and was serviced on 07/25/2022, as indicated on service tag. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and are operable.

Facility provides transportation at 2:10pm when school children get out of class.
Staff and personnel have completed training on preventive health practices including Pediatric First Aid and CPR. There are first aid supplies available. Children’s records were reviewed, including emergency information and were observed to be complete. Staff have proof of immunizations against MMR, TDAP, Influenza, and TB Clearances. LPA observed that staff have proof of the Mandated Reporter AB 1207 compliant Child Care Training Certificate on file. All homes shall conduct fire and disaster drills at least once every six months and document the date and time of each drill. Last drill documented was conducted on 12/13/2022. LPA did not observe any pools, spas, hot tubs, fishponds, or similar bodies of water during the inspection. Emergency Disaster Plan, Parent’s Rights Poster and the Facility License were observed to be posted.
This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Staff was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.



At this time, the licensee is in compliance with California Code of Regulations Title 22. No deficiencies cited.
