25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Raul Navarro conducted an unannounced case management inspection on 11/02/2022. LPA Navarro arrived at the facility at 9:18am and met with Site Supervisor Maria Labrada who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. There were 10 children and four staff present during the inspection.
The purpose of today's inspection was to go over the water lead test results received on 10/17/2022. Results show that one water source had action level exceedance of lead. The drinking fountain located in the classroom had a lead exceedence of 5.8. LPA Navarro observed the water fountain was covered with bags and tape to make it inaccessible to children. The drinking fountain was attached to a water faucet. The water faucet is too high for the children to reach. LPA Navarro spoke with Site Supervisor who stated that the children do not use the drinking fountain and that staff would use the attached water faucet occasionally to wash their hands. Per Site Supervisor, food is brought to the facility from headquarters by a catering company (International Institute of Los Angeles). Facility also provides filtered drinking water from the kitchen sink. LPA observed the water filter system and took pictures. LPA Navarro also took pictures of the drinking fountain during the inspection. A deficiency was cited to ensure that the water faucet noted will not be used as a drinking source or food preparation source for the children.
The deficiency listed on the following page was observed by the LPA and is being cited in accordance with California Code of Regulations Title 22. Please see attached LIC 809-D. The deficiency that is being cited needs to be cleared to protect the children’s health & safety.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Site Supervisor Maria Labrada. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. |
