25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced Required - 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Licensee Tamara Mallette who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Upon arrival, LPA observed the Licensee and cleared assistant providing care for seven preschool children. Per Licensee there are 18 children enrolled attending at various times. Individuals residing in the home have been discussed and noted.
At Approximately 9:10am LPA conducted an inspection of all areas of the facility sketch. This is a single story home which consist of three (3) bedrooms and two (2) bathrooms, living room kitchen, dining area, and covered patio (converted into Day care activity room). Areas used by children include the living room, patio activity room, one bathroom (located near the living room) and backyard. Areas off limits include three (3) bedrooms, one bathroom, garage, part of the backyard.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. Licensee has a cat which are inaccessible to children. LPA advised Licensee to provide extra care and supervision if animals commingle with children as animals may be unpredictable. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. Licensee indicated due to rain the backyard will be put in order at later date and is off-limits at this time. LPA reminded Licensee to ensure that all medicines, chemicals, cleaners, paints, sharp objects, grills, propane, and similar hazardous items must be inaccessible at all times. Poisons must also be locked with a key or combination lock.
Per Licensee there are no firearms, weapons or bodies of water and LPA did not observe any on the premises. The License, Parents Rights Poster, and Earthquake Preparedness was posted. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged and is due for service December 1, 2022. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the family room were tested and are in operable condition. The children's roster and the Disaster drill is current (last date of drill November 2, 2022). |
