25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elka Chavez conducted an unannounced required 1-year inspection. At 10:00 AM, LPA met with site supervisor, Jessica Castro, who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. This program operates on the lower portion of the building. A Senior Citizen program and youth program operate on the second floor of the building. These programs including staff do not use any of the rooms or play area designated for the pre-school program. This is a preschool program licensed for 70 children. The program operates full days, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday thru Friday.
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected. Upon arrival, LPA observed 29 children with 6 staff. Teacher-child ratios were observed to be in accordance with Title 22 regulations. The facility is within the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license. Staff names were recorded. All children were observed to be under visual supervision of a teacher at all times. The following was observed during tour of facility:
Furniture and equipment were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. All indoor classrooms were inspected to ensure that the floors have a surface that is safe and clean. At 10:35 AM LPA observed all toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic free. At this time, the director office is used as the designated ill isolation area. Ill children will use the bathroom located in the hallway of the facility. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill.
Snack menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted at least one week in advance and visible to an authorized representative. At 11:00 AM LPA Chavez observed all kitchen, food preparation and storage areas are clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin.
