Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ariel Cazares conducted an unannounced annual/random inspection on this date. LPA met with Teacher Julia Foxman. Director Jennifer Leonard arrived shortly after and guided LPA on a tour of the facility. There were 20 children present and a total of 5 staff. The facility’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30am-5:45pm.

LPA inspected all areas of the facility both indoors and outdoors. The facility is located on the property of the Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center. The facility consists of 4 classrooms: Coyotes, Dinosaurs, Frogs, and Teddy Bears. Each classroom was inspected. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Children have their own cubby to store their belongings. Napping equipment is available in form of mats. Linens are taken home on Fridays to be washed. There is available drinking water in form of a water pitcher and disposable cups. There are first aid and emergency supplies located in the classrooms. LPA tested the carbon monoxide detector located in the Coyote Classroom and found it to be operational. The children’s restrooms were inspected and observed to be clean and in good condition, with sufficient supplies for children to use.

Per director, the isolation area is located in the office and a staff restroom is available for ill children to use. The office is used to store medication for children in a red box. The facility provides two snacks to children. Snacks are prepared in each classroom. LPA observed counter spaces to be clean and free or pests. Snack menu and other required postings were observed in the office.
