25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Judy Mora conducted an unannounced Annual/random inspection. LPA met with designated facility Director, Elena Medina, who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. This is a preschool program licensed for 36 children. The facility conducts 04 different sessions in two separate classrooms. The sessions are Monday – Friday from 7AM-12 PM, 12:30-5:30 PM and 8AM-11:30AM, 12:30 PM - 4 PM. Per Director there are currently 67 children enrolled.
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected. Upon arrival LPA observed 09 children with 02 staff in Room 1, 05 children in the restroom with 02 staff and 14 children with 02 staff in Room 2 in transition to the outdoor playground.
Teacher-child ratios were observed and staff names were recorded. All children were observed to be under visual supervision of a teacher at all times. The Licensee is within the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license.
Furniture and equipment was inspected to ensure that they are in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. LPA observed that all indoor classrooms are clean and safe. All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. At this time, the Director's office is used as an isolation area. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic free.
Snack menus were reviewed. The facility provides AM snack, lunch and PM snack. All kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas are clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. All food is brought in from the International Institute of Los Angeles (IILA). There is uncontaminated drinking water available in all indoor classrooms and a water jug and disposable cups are taken outdoors. All storage containers used for solid waste, including moveable bins have tight fitting lid at this time and are in good repair.
