25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced Required 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Licensee Ashley Williams who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Upon arrival LPA observed the Licensee and cleared assistant caring for nine children (one infant, five preschool and four school-age) and one school age child arrived 15 minutes later. There are (11) children enrolled at this time. All residents associated with the facility were noted.
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected. This is a single story home consisting of 5 bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, living room with dining area, front yard, middle patio area/yard, backyard and detached shed. The areas used by children include: living room, dining area, front bedroom, one front bathroom. Off limits areas are: 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, front yard, detached shed, back yard in rear of the home. The middle patio/yard area is also off limits at this time.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. LPA observed age appropriate toys and play equipment inside the home. The backyard is surrounded by gates that are at least 5 ft tall. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. Licensee has one large dog that remains in an off-limits area in the backyard. LPA observed detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children to be inaccessible in the daycare areas. LPA observed the bathroom cabinets were locked. LPA advised Licensee to always make chemicals. lotions, cleaners etc. inaccessible. LPA informed Licensee that poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock.
Per Licensee there are bodies of water and LPA did not observe any on the premises. LPA discussed and noted firearm information with Licensee. The License, Parents Rights poster, and Earthquake Preparedness was posted. The children's roster and Disaster drill is current (last date of drill June 22, 2023. The required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher gauge is in the green and is due for service July 2024. |
