25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Judy Mora conducted an unannounced Annual random inspection. LPA met with licensee, Teresa Marino, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. The licensee's husband, Joseph Chua and Licensee's assistant's Marisol Clemente and Elsa Rodriguez were also present. There were 12 children present. Licensee states that there are currently 16 children enrolled, children's roster was reviewed and is current. Disaster drill log was available, last drill documented was 07/15/19.
This is a one story home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, office, dining room, living room, front and backyard (fenced). The children use the one bathroom, living/dining room, one bedroom (day care room) and backyard for play. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: 2 bedrooms and licensee's bathroom. The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit. Family members residing in the home are 2 adults (criminal record clearances on file) and 1 child.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for safety and comfort (wall ac & wall heater, pilot off). There is a working telephone service maintained in the home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible in all areas of the home. The licensee states that there are no poisons in the home. The licensee does understand that poison must be locked with a key or combination lock.
Per licensee, there no bodies of water on the premises. There is a firearm in the home in a key locked box. Ammunition and firearm are kept separately. There were safe toys, play equipment and materials observed for children. Emergency Disaster Plan was observed posted at the time of visit. Children’s records were reviewed to ensure that each child has an Identification and Emergency form. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged (serviced 07/31/19). Smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector are present in the home. The licensee has current Pediatric First Aid and CPR, which will expire 10/2020. Licensee's assistant Marisol Clemente has current Pediatric First Aid & CPR, expires 10/2020.
