25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ariel Cazares conducted a case management inspection on this date for the purpose of inspecting a restroom in the facility that will be converted from a staff to children's restroom. LPA met with Director Sarah Koa via FaceTime, due to precautionary measures as relates to COVID-19. A census of the children in care was taken. There were a total of 67 children present as follows: Room 1- 11 children, 2 staff; Room 2- 10 children, 2 staff; Room 3- 12 children, 2 staff; Room 6- 11 children, 2 staff; Room 7- 12 children, 2 staff; Room 8- 11 children, 2 staff.
LPA then toured the restrooms that will be changed. One of the restrooms near the Auditorium across from classrooms will be converted from a staff restroom to a children's restroom. LPA observed anti-slip mats on the floor, stools in each stall, and a step bench under the sink for children. There was hand soap, paper towels, and hand washing signs present. This restrooms consists of 3 stalls and 2 sinks. This restroom is in addition to the currently licensed children's restrooms and is not impacting the capacity licensed for. Across from the restroom is another separate restroom that will remain designated for staff. This restroom consists of 1 stall, 3 urinals, and 2 sinks. LPA requested that a sign be placed on each door distinguishing them from children's and staff's restroom. Director agreed and will send LPA a photo of the signs. Children will be escorted and supervised to the restroom at all times, by qualified staff. LPA requested to see the ill isolation restroom which is separate from the staff restroom. The isolation restroom is located in the office near the First Aid Room. There have been no changes to the ill isolation area as mentioned by Director.
The facility provided LPA with a copy of their current and valid fire permit which is on file. Based on today's inspection the proposed restroom will be approved for use by children. Any changes to the restroom, or should it be converted back to the staff restroom, must be reported to the Department prior to changes being made. Director agreed to this. Exit interview conducted with Director Sarah Koa and copy of this report will be emailed with attached read receipt for confirmation of receipt of report. |
