25 | An unannounced Required – 1 Year Inspection was conducted on 11/30/2022 at 12:05 PM by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Katrina Chicote. Facility is currently licensed for a capacity of 24 but have 14 enrolled. Licensing staff initially met with Sandra Bobadilla (S1), Teacher, who provided a guided tour of the facility both indoors and outdoors. LPA was later joined by Nicole Vasallo, Coordinating Teacher, at 12:20 PM. Facility is located on Starr King Elementary School campus in RM 33. The program currently operates a Part Day program Monday thru Friday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. LPA observed required licensing postings on Parent Board which includes waivers for shared outdoor playground space, use of outside restroom, and use of electronic sign in/out. At the initial start of the site visit, there is a total census of eight children and a total census of three staff present (S2 and S3).
Beginning at 12:10 PM, furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. LPA observed carpets, and child size tables and chairs available for children well maintained. LPA observed learning stations for dramatic play, math, and science with toys well maintained free of loose and sharp parts and a library/sensory area available for quiet play. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. There were cubbies observed as storage for children's belongings. Availability of drinking water was reviewed. LPA observed water cooler available for children and children's personal water bottles. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation. At 12:24 PM, LPA walked to the outside bathroom, which is located next to classroom and was less than a minute walk from classroom. LPA observed two bathrooms available each with three toilets and two sinks.
Snack/lunch menus were observed posted and reviewed. All meals and snacks are provided by near by elementary school cafeteria, LPA observed lunch being delivered to classroom by cafeteria staff. Children are provided with a full lunch. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids.
