Per licensee, areas off limits to children include: all bedrooms, kitchen, and converted garage. The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit. Licensee informed LPA that facility was going to add the converted garage to the facility and requested LPA to inspect the space for any corrections needed. LPA reminded Licensee that children are not to sleep or eat in the converted garage but may have activities.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for safety and comfort. There were safe toys, play equipment and materials observed for children. There is a working telephone service maintained in the home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are made inaccessible. Licensee states that there are no poisons in the home. The licensee does understand that poison must be locked with a key or combination lock. At 1:18PM, LPA observed an open pack of cigarettes inside a shed in the backyard where the children play that was accessible to children.
