25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elka Chavez conducted an unannounced 1-year required inspection to the above facility on 07/06/2022. LPA arrived at the facility at 1:25 PM and met with Brisa Ocean, Licensee who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Entrance Checklist for Family Child Care Homes was provided to the licensee upon entry. There were 5 children present upon arrival. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30PM.
The home is a single-story home. The home consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, kitchen, dining area, family room, laundry room, detached garage and backyard (fenced). LPA observed the day care is mainly conducted out of the family room. LPA observed the detached garage is used for art activities. LPA reminded licensee that the detached garage can only be utilized as activity space. There is no eating or sleeping permitted in the garage. Areas accessible to children are: Family room, bathroom located next to the family, detached garage and backyard. Areas off limits to children and parents are: 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, dining area, 1 bathroom and laundry room. All off-limit areas need to be made inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed the door that leads to the home to be closed and locked. The licensee understands that licensing staff may have access to off-limit areas during inspection visit if necessary. Licensee was reminded if children bring food from home it must be labeled with the child’s name and properly stored or refrigerated.
Individuals residing in the home have been discussed and noted. All adults present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption. All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness.
