25 | THIS INSPECTION WAS CONDUCTED IN SPANISH & ENGLISH
Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Rita Ramos and Alicia Mooberry conducted a pre-licensing inspection today. LPAs met with Adriana Lopez, Applicant, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Also present during this inspection was Licensee's daughter. Per applicant, family members residing in the home are 2 adults and 1 child. The applicant is requesting a small family child care home license. Per applicant, operation hours will be Monday to Friday, 6:00AM to 6:00PM. Applicant states that she will care for children 0-12 years of age.
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected, including but not limited to, off limit areas. This is a one story home that consists of 3 bedrooms, 3 restrooms, dining room, living room, kitchen, front yard, and back yard.
Per applicant, the children will use the restroom at the end of the kitchen. LPAs advised the Applicant that since the children have to walk through the kitchen to access the restroom, Applicant needs to supervise and walk the children at all times. Areas that will be used by children were inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service (land line and cellphone), ventilation and heating. There is a wall heater in the dining area that was observed to be covered, however, the cover is not secured. LPAs advised the applicant to secure the cover. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, sharp objects and hazardous items that pose a danger to children are inaccessible in areas designated for children. LPAs observed that the Licensee had Raid (roach spray) stored in the kitchen. LPAs advised Licensee that all poisons be stored under key or combination lock.
Based on the Facility Sketch submitted, areas off limits to children and parents are: All 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and backyard. There doorknob latches on the bedroom doors. Applicant states that the latches will stay latched during the hours of operation. The applicant understands that licensing staff may have access to off-limit areas during inspection visit if necessary.
