25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Crystal Green and Alanna Gontarek conducted an unannounced case management licensee initiate inspection today. Upon arrival LPAs met with Licensee’s Scarlett Reyes and Esperanza Melo. The licensees is requesting a capacity increase from a small family child care home license to a large family child care home license. Per licensee operating hours are Monday to Friday, 6:00 am. until 6:00 pm. The licensee states that she currently has 8 children enrolled. A current children’s roster is available and is current.
This is a two- story home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 2 restrooms, living room (front), living room (back), kitchen, laundry room, dining area, front yard, and backyard (fenced). LPA observed a wall heater located in the back-living room that was made inaccessible using a wall heater barricade. LPA also observed the home to have a child lock gate preventing entry to the off-limit bottom level of the home. Per Licensee, the children uses both living rooms, dining area, 1 restroom, and backyard (fenced). Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for safety and comfort. Areas off limits based on facility sketch submitted to children and parents include: Includes 4 bedrooms, 1 restroom, kitchen, laundry room, and unfenced front yard. There is a working telephone service maintained in the home.
The licensee states that only 2 adults (both licensees) reside in the home. There is a pet dog, per licensee is kept in off-limit areas of the home. All individuals present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing or volunteering in a licensed home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible in all areas of the home. The licensee states that there are no poisons in the home. The licensee does understand that poison must be locked with a key or combination lock.
