An announced pre-licensing site inspection was conducted today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Crystal Green to inspect and measure facility for capacity determination. Due to COVID- 19 precautionary measures were taken, individuals present during inspection wore appropriate personal protective equipment. Facility was observed to be adhering to local public health guidelines. Licensing staff met with Director, Mya Johnson, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Also, present during this inspection were the Administrator, Rhonda Culton. There is also a preschool program (198018016) and an infant program (198018017) located on the same premises. Proposed operating hours will be Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

At 11:30 AM, Licensing staff was guided through a tour of the proposed school-age designated area. Due to COVID- 19 precautionary measures, this facility is using preschool entrance as the main entrance in order to conducted temperature checks and health screening prior to entering the facility. Per Director, parents and children will remain in the front area while temperatures checks will be conducted prior to signing in their child. School-age children will then be escorted to their designated area.

The proposed classroom was observed accessible through the common area. LPA observed the indoor space to be separate from the preschool indoor designated space. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Individual storage space will be available for each child located in common area of the facility. Drinking water will be made available via a water jug and disposable cups. LPA observed the facility to have a designated boy’s restroom with 1 toilet, 1 urinal and 2 sinks and a designated girl’s restroom with 2 toilets and 2 sinks. All toilets and sinks are in safe and sanitary operating conditions.

The director's office located next to the front entrance of the facility will serve as an isolation area for an ill child. Ill children will use the staff bathroom. There is a first aid kit available on site. There are smoke detectors and a carbon monoxide detector on site that meets statutory requirements.

This facility has a kitchen on site and that provides meals and snacks for enrolled children. Food preparation areas were inspected for cleanliness. Licensing staff was guided through the proposed outdoor activity space. The outdoor area was observed to have a secured fence surrounding the property. There is adequate shade in outdoor play area.

No transportation is being conducted by the facility.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual- Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. At this time, the indoor space measured for a capacity of five (5) school- age children and the designated outdoor space measured for a capacity of seven (7) school-age children. Based on measurements obtained today from both indoors and outdoors, Applicant will be approved for a capacity of five (5) school-age children.

At 2:35 PM, LPA Green conducted an exit interview with Director, Mya Johnson.
