25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elka Chavez conducted an unannounced 1-year required inspection to the above facility in Spanish on 05/12/2023. LPA arrived at the facility at 8:40 AM and met with Licensee, Sandra Castro Magallon who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Entrance Checklist for Family Child Care Homes was provided to the licensee upon entry. There were 2 children present upon arrival. Hours of operation are at all hours of the day from Monday through Friday. The Licensee understands that care for a child should not exceed 24 hours.
This is a single-story home which consists of four bedrooms, two bathrooms, family room/daycare room, kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry room, detached garage and backyard (fenced). Areas accessible to children are: Family room/daycare room, restroom (located in the bedroom hallway) and backyard (fenced). LPA observed a fireplace in the daycare room with a metal barrier that is bolted to the wall making it inaccessible to children in care. Areas off limits to children and parents are: three bedrooms, master bathroom, kitchen, dining room, laundry room and detached garage. LPA observed a baby gate to prevent access to the living room, dining room and kitchen. The doors to the bedrooms and bathroom are kept locked and closed. At 8:50 AM LPA observed the detached garage is under construction. LPA provided technical assistance regarding reporting requirements Alterations to Existing Buildings or Grounds to the licensee. All off-limit areas need to be made inaccessible to children in care. The licensee understands that licensing staff may have access to off-limit areas during inspection visit if necessary. Food is provided by Licensee. Licensee was reminded if children bring food from home, it must be labeled with the child’s name and properly stored or refrigerated.
Individuals residing in the home have been discussed and noted. All adults present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption. All areas identified on the facility sketch that are accessible for children to use were inspected for safety, comfort, and cleanliness.
