Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an additional prelicensing inspection for the purpose of measuring space and observing corrections made by applicant. LPA met with Director Applicant Catherine Ocran who is requesting an infant center license for a capacity of (12) infants at this time. This facility will be part of a combination center to include Jekal Learning Center Preschool #198017903 and Jekal Learning Center After School Program #198019087. The facility indoor space and outdoor space is physically separate from the preschool and school age components. Operations hours will 6:00am to 6:00pm.

The following items have been corrected:

1. LPA observed an adequate amount of napping equipment (7 portable cribs and four small napping cots [for older active climbing infants]). Note: The napping equipment is arranged so that staff may walk in between napping equipment to access infants.

2. Napping area is physically divided from activity area.

3. The applicant installed a three (3) inch barrier on the changing table to prevent infant from rolling off table.

LPA's measurements: 20.25 x 19.25 = 389.81 less encumbered 1.75 = 388 / 35sq ft = 11 capacity

Note: The applicant has an approved 5/15/2019 fire clearance for a capacity of 12 (received on 5/18/2019). However, based on measurements LPA will request the the applicant be approved for a capacity of 11 infants.
Once licensed, the applicant is required to adhere to the terms and limitations as stated on the license. Exit Interview conducted with Applicant (Director) Catherine Ochran.
