25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced Required 1 Year inspection. LPA met with Licensee Alma Meyers who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Also present were two of the Licensee's cleared assistants. LPA observed eight napping children (1 school age, 1 infant, 6 preschool). There are currently 14 children enrolled. The children's roster is current. Disaster drill log was also available and current during today’s inspection.
This is a two story home which consists of five bedrooms and two bathrooms. Areas used by the children include the living room, den, two bedrooms, dining room, and back yard. Per Licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: all other bedrooms (including upstairs), one bathroom and the garage.
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for the safety of the children. There is a working telephone maintained in the home. Licensee has two large pet dogs and one cat. LPA allows one dog and one cat to be accessible and places the other dog in a kennel during outdoor play. LPA observed the dog and cat to be friendly however LPA advised Licensee to provide extra care and supervision as animals may be unpredictable. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible. LPA informed Licensee that poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock.
Per Licensee there are no firearms, weapons or bodies of water on the premises. Safe toys, play equipment and materials were observed. The Emergency Disaster Plan, Parents Rights and License was posted on a poster board. Children’s records were reviewed to ensure that each child has the required documentation including Identification and Emergency, Immunization and Parents Rights. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher is fully charged and is due for service June 2022. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are in operable condition. The Licensee has current Pediatric First Aid/CPR. Mandated Reporter Training (expires March 1, 2023) |
