25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Timothy Fields and Katrina Chicote conducted a pre-licensing inspection. LPA met with Applicant Catalina Bonilla, who guided analysts on a tour of the facility. Per applicant, residing in the home are two adults and three children. The applicant is requesting a small family child care home license. Per applicant, operation hours will be 7am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. Applicant states that she will care for children ages 0 - 12 years of age.
All areas identified on the facility sketch were inspected, including but not limited to, off limit areas. This is a one story home that consists of four bedrooms, two bathrooms, dining room, living room, kitchen, backyard, and garage.
Per applicant, care will be provided in the living room and four bedrooms located in the hallway. There is barricade isolating the living room from the kitchen and dining room. Applicant has a barricaded fire place in the living room as well. Areas that will be used by children were inspected for safety, comfort, cleanliness, telephone service, ventilation, and heating. There were no wall heaters, detached sheds, or pets observed in the home.
Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, sharp objects and hazardous items that can pose a danger to children are inaccessible in areas designated for children. The applicant was advised that any poisons must be locked with a key or combination lock.
Based on the Facility Sketch submitted, areas off limits to children and parents are: Applicant's kitchen, dining room, second guest bathroom located in the hallway, garage, and front yard. There is a latch on the bathroom doorknobs. Applicant states that the child proof doorknob will stay latched during the hours of operation. The applicant understands that licensing staff may have access to off-limit areas during inspection visit if necessary.
