Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Juvenal Moctezuma and Joseph Pacheco conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection and met with Center Director, Catalina Rodriguez and Center Advocate, Maridel Villa. The purpose of the inspection was discussed with Catalina and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. LPAs took census and observed that the children were playing out in the playground under the supervision of the director, one teacher, and one Aide.

Center operates from August through the end of May from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM Monday through Friday. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and all hazardous items are stored in a locked cabinet which are inaccessible to children in care. Some disinfectants and cleaning solutions were observed to be under the kitchen sink. LPA reminded Catalina to make sure they are always out of reach from children.

Maridel stated that the center provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS). An IMS plan will be submitted. Maridel Stated that the center does not have any current children that use medication. Medication would be stored in a locked cabinet inside the directors office or in a high cabinet inside the classroom. Furniture and equipment appear to be safe and in good condition. LPA reminded Catalina to get rid of any toys or equipment that are broken or malfunctioning. Floors appeared to be clean and safe, and solid waste storage vessels, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on, and are in good repair. The bathroom was observed to be clean and is kept free of toxins and in sanitary operating condition. The center only provides breakfast and lunch. Maridel stated that food is prepared off site and gets brought over to the center daily. A staff then preps the food and delivers it to the children. Drinking water is available both indoors and out. The menus and schedules are posted inside the classroom. Maridel stated that napping equipment is washed at least once a week (Friday) or whenever its necessary.

A sampling of Staff records reviewed showed that everything was complete and up to date. LPA also advised Catalina to make sure teachers are always having visual observation of the children when playing outside or inside the classroom. CPR is current and up to date with staff present.
