25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Juvenal Moctezuma conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection and met with Licensee, Edilia Garcia, assistant, and daughter. LPA explained the reason of the inspection and a tour of the home was conducted both inside and outside. LPA observed licensee and her assistant caring for 4 children of whom 2 were her grandchildren.
Licensee stated that children have access to the living room, kitchen/dining room, one bathroom, and backyard. LPA observed mats, small chairs, a playpen, and age appropriate toys. LPA also observed that the day-care home was clean and free of toxins during todays inspection. Licensee stores her knifes and medications up high in her pantry which is remained closed and has a plastic door knob/spinner in place. Some of the cleaning supplies are stored underneath the kitchen sink which has a plastic lock in place. LPA reminded licensee to make sure the plastic lock is always working and in place. Licensee understood. The rest of the cleaning supplies are stored in a high cabinet inside the bathroom which also has licensees washer/dryer. The bathroom was found clean and free of toxins. All the bedrooms are closed and have a plastic door knob/spinner in place. The backyard has a fence that goes all around. LPA observed that there was a wooden plank that fell towards the neighbors yard. Licensee stated that she will replace the fence later today so there isn't a hole. LPA observed plenty of age appropriate toys, bikes/tricycles, and a small wooden play house.
LPA spoke about the safe sleep regulations with the licensee and reminded her to not store anything inside the cribs and playpens. LPA also provided licensee with a safe sleep brochure and the new lead brochure.
Licensee has a 2A10 BC fire extinguisher that was purchased on August 3, 2012. LPA explained to licensee that she needs to get it serviced or replaced yearly. Licensees CPR/First Aid certificate that's good until 01/27/2021. The last time licensee conducted fire drills with children was on 05/24/2019.
