25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Van conducted an announced case management and met with Director, Lisa Woods. The purpose of the inspection was explained and was granted entry to the facility by the director. Per Director, the classroom that is located in the Church’s building will undergo a renovation. In today’s inspection, LPA reviews and measures the modular building that will be a temporary classroom for children during construction period. Present there are 38 children and 9 teachers. Director states, the construction is scheduled to begin on December 2, 2019. Days and hours of operations are from Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. No changes have been made to the outdoor play area and the detached building #2. (building #2 approved for 44 children)
The modular building was measured and inspected today for health and safety hazards. No apparent hazards were observed during today's inspection. The modular building measures 893 square feet, allowing for a capacity of 25 children. See facility sketch and capacity worksheet. There are 2 sinks and 2 toilets available for children's use in the modular building, allowing for a capacity of 30 children. Fire clearance has been granted by Southern Marin Fire District on 11/7/19. Per fire clearance, the overall capacity the facility could be licensed for is 60 children.
The modular classroom has adequate age appropriate toys, furniture, equipment, and First Aid supplies. LPA observed smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fully charged fire extinguishers in the classroom. All the cleaning solutions, poisons and other chemicals that are dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children. LPA observed the unused electrical outlets have covers installed. Classroom floor is in good repair and free of any hazards. The modular classroom has water pitchers and cups readily available for children.
This modular building meets the licensing requirements, licensure is recommended and approved as of today, 11/22/19.
No deficiencies were cited today. This report and rights to comment were discussed with licensee. This report must be available in the facility for public review. Notice of site visit was posted. |
