Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Farhan Bashir-Tariq met with the teacher , Margaret Hirsh (S1), for an Annual Inspection. Purpose of the inspection was explained. Present, there were 24 preschool children with 3 teachers. Facility is operating within the capacity and in compliance with staff child ratio on this day. Facility operates day care from Monday to Friday between 8 AM to 5 PM. Facility provides two snacks and menus are posted in kitchen. Children bring their own meals.
LPA and S1 inspected the facility indoors and outdoors for health and safety hazards. The facility is equipped with multiple carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors and a fully charged fire extinguisher that meets minimum size requirements. Cleaning supplies and chemicals are stored underneath the kitchen sink that is locked with child proof locks. Medication is stored in a kitchen cabinet out of reach from children. The classroom is clean and orderly with a sufficient amount of learning materials and age appropriate furniture in well repair available to the children. Kitchen and bathroom surfaces appear clean and sanitary with trash receptacles with tight fitting lids. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. Two outdoor play areas are available to the children, a back yard and a front yard. The front yard has a play structure that is surrounded by tan bark and rubber mats serving as cushioning around fall zones. Per S1, there are no pools, spas or other bodies of water at the facility.
LPA reviewed the facility records. LPA reviewed 8 random children's and all present staff's files. LPA observed facility has record of names, addresses and telephone numbers of each child's authorized representative. Each child's record contains the record immunization. Multiple staff members have record of valid CPR card in file. Per facility's log, last emergency drill was conducted on August 2 , 2019.

LPA reminded the facility that All adults, 18 years and older living in the home, helper, or assistant must have finger print clearance and must be associated to the facility by submitting an LIC 9182 with a copy of CDL or CA. ID prior to having any contact with children in care failure to do so could result in an immediate civil penalty. All staff present today have background check clearance on file.
LPA reminded the facility that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a child care facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662. LPA observed the record of immunization of staff present today.
LPA reminded the facility , As of January 1, 2018, all staff is required to complete Mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training (AB1207) every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com. LPA observed the training completion certificates for staff.
LPA encouraged the facility to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and new updates. Facility can also email at childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov and ask to be added to the email list for the updates.


>No deficiencies were cited today under Title 22 Division 12 of the California Code of Regulations.

This report and rights to comment and appeal were discussed with Licensee. This report must be available in the facility for public review. Notice of site visit shall be posted for 30 days from today's visit.
