25 | Due to the COVID-19 health crisis and local county orders, a tele-inspection was conducted. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Van met with the owner, Shri Raval, and Site Director, Joan Deksnys, for a case management via Facetime. The Department received an application from the facility requesting a capacity increase. This is an Infant's Program; currently, the facility is licensed for 40 infants and requesting an increase of capacity to 52 infants. At present, eight teachers are caring for 20 infants. The fire inspection was conducted by Corte Madera Fire Dept and approved for a capacity of 52 Infants on January 11, 2021.
Through FaceTime video chat, LPA, Site Director, and the Owner inspect the new building for Health and Safety Hazards. This facility is a combination center caring for Infants and Preschool children. The new space has a hexagonal shape, and the owner decided to divide the space into two classrooms. One half of the space is designated for the Infant program, and the other half is for the Preschool Program. A solid wall is separating the two programs.
Due to the inspection being done virtually, the Site Director measures the new classroom. The new Infant room measures 424 square feet allowing for the addition of 12 children. The room appears clean and in good repair with sufficient lighting and ventilation. There is a fully charged fire extinguisher that meets the minimum size requirement. The facility is also equipped with carbon monoxide detectors, a centralized smoke alarm, and a fully stocked FirstAid Kit. All furnishing and equipment are observed to be in good condition, and there are cubbies available for children's belongings. LPA observed the diaper changing tables have at least 1" thick padding covered with vinyl and with sides raised to at least a minimum of 3". The changing tables are within arm's reach of the sink. There is a separate napping area for children to nap or rest without distraction or disturbance.
