25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Glenn Ouye met with Kristin Mills and Erica Maciel to conduct a capacity determination of the new building that has just completed construction and will be the new Redwood State Preschool. The classroom building is still on the school campus but a school bond allowed the new classroom to be built. This classroom is newly constructed and is not an older remodeled classroom.
There are six sinks and six toilets for the children in care. There are two main classroom with two calm rooms and one sensory classroom. There is also another large sensory room.
The maximum capacity allowable for this new preschool could be up to 86 children, which is limited by the indoor square footage of 3016 square feet.
The outdoor square footage was measured at 8758 square feet. The program could increase the capacity if desired in the future.
There are are three items which must be completed prior to approval of use of the new building. There are mechanical access covers in the outdoor activity area that will need to be made inaccessible. The Site Supervisor and Program Director feel that a fence could be installed to make the access covers inaccessible. A photo will be sent to the department to show completion. Bathroom stall door will also be removed. This items is not required due to regulations but LPA agreed with the Site Supervisor that it would allow for optimal supervision of the children in the bathroom. An approved fire clearance is the final item that will be required to approve the use of the building.
The department will approve use of the new building upon receipt of the approved fire clearance and proof of inaccessibility of the mechanical access covers in the outdoor activity area.
Due to computer problems with LPA Ouye Field Automated System program LPA was not able to open a Facility Evaluation Report. This report will be emailed to Kristin Mills and a copy of the signed report will be retained in the facility file.
