25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Robert Maciel made a case management visit to the facility for the purpose of reviewing a requested temporary modification of outdoor activity space for the facility for the duration of construction on the playground and met with facility Director, Catherine Lawrence.
On 10/04/24, Kristin Hills, the Director of Early Learning and Care and Educational Services at the Mendocino County Office of Education, emailed LPA an updated facility sketch that included an alternative outdoor activity space to be used by the facility while construction for the facility's old playground is currently ongoing. The temporary outdoor activity space is the courtyard in front of the facility building.
During today's visit, LPA reviewed the activity space and did not observe any immediate or potential health and safety concerns. The outdoor space surface is all concrete. LPA observed no play structures.
Director stated that the area will be used until construction on the original outdoor activity space is finished. Director stated construction began in June of 2024 after summer break started and is expected to be finished by the end of October, 2024. The temporary activity area is not used by any students from Calpella Elementary School, the school whose campus the facility operates on. Once finished, the facility will stop using the courtyard and go back to using the original playground. Director stated she will inform LPA of the date of completion.
This report was read and reviewed with Director, Catherine Lawrence. There were no deficiencies cited during today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to do so will result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. |
