25 | On 03/04/2021, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Juvenal Moctezuma conducted an announced Case Management inspection and met with Assistant Director, Monica Garza & Site Supervisor, Maria Teresa Aguilar. LPA explained the reason of the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. The center is located on the premises of The Schelby Special Education Complex on 6738 North Sultana Drive in Livingston, CA. Licensee has added two additional classrooms (3 & 4) and is wanting to increase their preschool capacity to 80 children ages 2-6 years. This program will operate on a traditional school year schedule from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The center provides Breakfast, Lunch, & 1 snack. The food is prepared on site in the same complex which is the licensees centralized kitchen. Food is then delivered to each classroom. Staff will utilize the private staff bathroom located in the children's bathroom which is in between classroom 2 & 3 and another bathroom in between classroom 1 & 4. Ill children will be isolated in the site supervisors office and use the staff bathroom. The classrooms were observed to be clean and free of toxins. The cleaning items/supplies will be stored up high in the cabinets, which will be inaccessible to children. The other cleaning items will be stored in the laundry room which is in the multipurpose room. The Multipurpose room will be for staff use only. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment appeared to be safe and in good condition. There are plenty of age appropriate items, tables, chairs, Cots, & cubbies to meet the requested capacity.
Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Monica. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 3,660 square feet which will accommodate the requested preschool capacity. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings. Toys and equipment appeared to be age appropriate. There is a total of 12 toilets and 16 sinks/hand washing fixtures inside the classrooms. Each classroom has two water fountains inside but due to Covid they will not be used. Monica stated that the classroom will use water jugs and disposable cups for drinking water both indoor and outdoor.
