32 | There is one fire place located inside the living room, and it is made inaccessible to the children as the children do not have access to the living room. Licensee stated that the fireplace is not being used during daycare hours. LPA did not observe any open-face heaters in the daycare area. LPA observed a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector. The daycare room has adequate heating and ventilation for the safety and comfort for the children in care.
LPA observed that the fire and disaster drills have been conducted and documented every six months, including the date, time, and number of children present.
Licensee ensures that children in care are supervised at all times and acknowledge that children shall never be left unattended in parked vehicles. The outdoor play area located in the backyard is fully fenced, and no hazards were observed.
LPA reviewed a sample of children’s files and observed that each file was complete with the required emergency information. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter Training was completed on 09/20/2024. Licensee’s pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is valid until 01/20/2026. The Assistant’s Mandated Reporter Training was completed on 01/27/2025. A review of staff records indicates that Licensee and her Assistant have immunization records on file for influenza, pertussis, and measles, as required.
LPA discussed the Community Care Licensing website www.ccld.ca.gov which will provide access to resources such as forms, regulations Provider Information Notices (PINs), and Quarterly Updates. LPA discussed Reporting Requirement and Licensee stated that she understood.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in the Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
