25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Cortney Nelson, met with Site Supervisor, Maria Ramos, to conduct Required- 1 Year inspection. The facility is currently closed due to staff shortages, as of 5/27/2022. All infants who were previously enrolled into the center have been relocated to other Migrant Head Start Family Child Care Homes. Director, Angelica Renteria, states that she anticipates reopening the infant center once additional staff have been hired. Child Development Coordinator, Maria Cortes, arrived at the facility during todays inspection.
LPA observed all required postings near the entrance to the facility and reviewed fire/disaster drill log during today’s inspection. The last fire/disaster drill was conducted on 5/19/2022 & 5/25/2022, which is compliant with the six-month requirement for facilities. LPA observed a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, functioning smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. The Site Supervisor states that there are no weapons or firearms on the premises.
Indoor areas of the facility were inspected by the LPA today and observed to be clean, orderly, and safe for day care infants. Infant room at the facility is physically separate from preschool component. Toys in the facility are currently packed up due to center closure, however all furniture in the room is appropriately sized for infant use. Infant changing tables were observed to be padded, within arms reach of a sink, in good repair. There is one crib that is free from loose articles, covered with a fitted sheet, and has no objects hanging above or attached to it. There are 16 cots available for toddler use. Site Supervisor states that enrollment at the facility is primarily toddler age (12-18 months).
Currently, the infant room has strollers stored due to on-going construction in front of the facility. Site Supervisor states that construction is anticipated to end August 2022 and strollers were purchased to assist parents with walking to the facility around the construction area. Strollers are no longer going to be used by parents and are stored in the facility until it will reopen. Upon reopening, strollers will need to be relocated prior to infants utilizing the room again. |
