Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Joe Macias and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Sandy Knight, conducted an announced Prelicensing/ Relocation Inspection. LPA met with Licensees/ Directors Laura Hair, and Evelyn Weimer. The center is located at 893 Blanco Circle, Salinas, CA 93901. The center is located on the Monterey County Office of Education campus. The center will operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The Licensee has current CPR and first aid certification on file. A fire safety inspection approval was received from Salinas City Fire Department prior to today's inspection. During today's inspection the Licensees submitted an updated LIC 200A, as well as a capacity change. The Licensee is requesting a waiver for electronic sign in/ out, as well a an additional waiver for the purpose of commingling. LPA toured the facility both inside and out. The following indoor measurements were taken today:

INFANT ROOMS:
ROOM 3 20 x 13.6 = 272
ROOM 6 20 x 11.7 = 234
ROOM 7 20 x 17.8 = 356
ROOM 11 21.8 x 24 = 523.2 - 42.67 = 480.53
TOTAL INDOOR SPACE = 1342.53 sq.ft. divided 35 = 38.358 children
There is 4 sink (60) and 3 toilet/ potty chairs available for the infants. The Licensee states cubbies/ hooks have been ordered. The Licensees shall submit photos upon completion of installation of the cubbies/ hooks.

There are 28 play pins, 26 chairs, 5 tables, 13 highchairs, 5 cribs, and 1 changing table available for children. There is a changing table within arms length of the sink in the infant changing room. The infant changing table has raised sides that are at least 3 inches in height. The infant changing table(s) has a vinyl changing pad that is at least 1 inch think and in good condition. Napping equipment is appropriate. Play pins are stored in the storage room. The facility will provide bedding. Sick children are kept in the Director's office, a crib for resting is also provided. Sick children will be supervised by the Director.

First aid supplies are stored in the changing room, and are inaccessible to children. Cleaning supplies are securely stored and inaccessible to children. LPA observed fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and working smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. The center will only administer emergency medication and will be stored in a lock box in the office. The center will provide snacks for the children, and the parents will provide all other food. There is separate preparation kitchen, equipped with oven, microwave, sink and refrigerator. There is a trash can with tight-fitting lid for the disposal of solid waste. There is adequate toys, equipment, and supplies for the children. Drinking water is provided indoor via pitchers, and cups. LPA observed all furniture and equipment is in good condition and safe for the children. Room temperature is controlled by central heating/air conditioning.

INFANT YARD:
Total Infant Yard = 2450
TOTAL OUTDOOR SPACE = 2450 sq.ft. divided 75 = 75 children

The yard is surrounded by appropriate fencing. Shade is provided by building. Drinking water will be provided by pitchers and cups. No transportation is provided by the center. There is a working telephone in the office (831) 261-9897.

LPA Macias discussed the requirements of AB 633 to the Licensee representative and provided her the fact sheet and a copy of Acknowledgement of Receipt of Licensing Reports (LIC 9224) and applicant understands the requirements.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA also went over safe sleep for infants.

The Licensee stated she will submit pictures of finalized classroom arrangements.



LPA conducted an exit interview with the Licensees, LPM concludes that the Licensees have met all of the requirements and thus a license is approved effective today.
