An annual inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kevin O'Connell. The facility file was reviewed prior to this visit. This is a Title 5 facility. Staff are fingerprinted through Department of Education. This program operates M-F from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM and 9-12 PM plus 1-4:00pm in 9 classrooms. Today only 3 classes were in session.
The facility was toured with the Director at 10:37am and the floor and yard plan submitted by the licensee were verified. This facility is licensed for 120 children. 10 staff (plus the Director) were supervising 48 children during today's inspection and were operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements.
The items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds and medications) were observed to be inaccessible to children. The Director states that there are no poisons on the premises and none were observed. The toys, floors, desks and other equipment and surfaces are clean, toxic free, safe and in good condition. There is uncontaminated drinking water available to children both indoors and outdoors on the playground. The children's bathrooms are in safe and sanitary condition. Breakfast, lunches and snacks are served and menus were posted. Garbage containers containing solid waste have tight fitting lids. The LPA observed a working carbon monoxide detector and there was a charged fire extinguishers of at least 2A 10: BC or larger in the classroom.
The playground was free of hazards. The playground equipment was in safe condition. There is Pour & Play rubber matting for cushioning underneath the climbing structures to absorb falls in both yards. The Director stated that there are no bodies of water and none were observed. The Director stated no weapons are stored on site and none were observed. At least one teacher who opens and closes had current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications on file.
