At approximately 10:27am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Matthew Gallo and Katrina Owens met with Director Morgan Best for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. At 10:35am, LPAs observed a total census of 31 children. This included 21 preschool children being supervised by 4 staff, and 10 toddlers being supervised by 2 staff. Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. Facility hours of operation are 8:30-3:30 M-F, with preschool component closed during summer. Facility does not offer transportation services.

LPAs toured the building including all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service and outdoor play areas. The following documents were posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Personal Rights, Seatbelt Law, Parents' Rights Poster and daily schedule. Director stated there were no poisons, firearms, or pools of water on the premises, and LPAs observed toxic and hazardous items to be inaccessible to children. Functional carbon dioxide detector and smoke detector were present. Furniture and equipment were in good condition, and LPA communicated the importance of regularly checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/, further recommending they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Playground equipment and surfaces were free of loose or sharp parts, and the areas underneath or around climbing equipment were sufficiently cushioned with wood chips. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The food preparation space was free of litter and all food was protected against contamination. Storage containers with solid waste had tight-fitting covers. Program provides breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack, and menus were posted in visible sight. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. No children are currently on medication.

Sufficient napping equipment was available, and LPA reminded Director that napping infants must have 100% visual supervision at all time. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource.
