25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with Licensee Brenda Frey for the purpose of an unannounced required 1-year inspection. Licensee states no others are present in the home today except their two assistants. At 2:30pm, LPA observed a total census of 9 children, including 1 infant, 7 preschool children, and 1 school aged child.
Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility, and a health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. No areas of the home are off-limits. LPA observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Per Licensee, there are no weapons in the home. LPA observed hot tub in backyard with locked cover as required by regulations. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. There are neither stairs nor a fireplace in the home. Outdoor play yard is fenced.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA reviewed 9 children’s files and observed them to be complete. A current roster is being maintained and fire and disaster drills are documented. Current CPR and First Aid certification was verified and expires 1/2024, and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training was verified for the Licensee and expires 1/2024.
