25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Han conducted an unannounced annual/random inspection of the facility on today's date. LPA Han toured the facility with the director, Cathy Keller inside and outside. Census was taken in individual classrooms. The overall census observed was 6 preschool staff, 41 preschool children, and 1 school age child. Upon arrival at 9:20AM, LPA observed 8 preschool children, 1 school age child, 1 preschool qualified teacher, and 1 YMCA Aide at the outdoor eating area. They were having morning snacks together. YMCA Aide, Elizabeth Perdomo was here for child#1. Elizabeth Perdomo did not transfer her criminal clearance records to the facility. LPA received clearance transfer request required forms from the director and will submit to licensing office since the facility doesn’t have fax service. The facility has a waiver to allow combined preschool children with school age children between the hours of 6:15AM to 8AM and 5:30PM to 6:15PM, Monday through Friday. Operating hours are 6:30 am- 6:00 pm, Mon-Fri.
The items which could pose a danger to children such as detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications were stored out of the reach of children. Poisons/Hazardous Items are not kept on the premises. Food is prepared on site; lunch and snacks are provided. Food prep areas appear clean and sanitary. Food is properly stored. On site kitchen is free from hazards. The toys, floors, desks and other equipment appeared clean. There is drinking water available to children both indoors and outdoors. The children's bathrooms are clean and sanitary. Children nap on cots and bedding is taken home weekly to be washed by parents. The facility has conducted an emergency drill within the past six months. The facility has a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and fire extinguisher. The playground was completely fenced. The playground equipment appeared in safe condition. There is sufficient cushioning underneath climbing structures and/or play equipment to absorb falls. Sign in/out procedure was reviewed for compliance. During today's visit staffing ratios were being met. At least one staff member present possesses current CPR/First Aid certifications, which expires 5/2021. Children's and staff files were reviewed for compliance. Children's and staff files were in substantial compliance. |
