25 | On 7/28/2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) A. Silva conducted an unannounced Required – 1 Year inspection assisted by Director Maria Milla. Upon arrival, the total census was 11 napping clients with two staff. The facility was operating within its licensed capacity and within compliance of staff-to-child ratios. Facility hours are 7 a.m.- 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. An on-site Facility Personnel Report Summary review showed that all facility staff or other individuals who require background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
INDOOR INSPECTION. The LPA inspected the indoor areas accessible to clients. The facility was equipped with working carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, working telephone service, and at least one fire extinguisher that meets statutory and State Fire Marshall standards. A record review shows that the last drill was documented on June 2023.
The director stated that there are no firearms and/or other dangerous weapons in the facility; none were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and other items that could pose a danger if readily available were inaccessible to clients in care. No poisons or other items that could pose a danger to clients were observed during the inspection. The center provides dry snacks only. Children bring their own lunch in lunch pails. Reverse osmosis drinking water is available to clients in care. The LPA observed that the facility’s floors, equipment, furniture, and clients’ bathrooms were clean, in good repair, and free of sharp edges. The facility meets all posting requirements.
OUTDOOR INSPECTION. The LPA inspected the outdoor area. At the time of inspection, the surface of the outdoor activity area was maintained and free of any observable hazards. The areas around and under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and other similar equipment were cushioned with material that absorbs falls. The outdoor equipment is in good repair. There are no bodies of water at the facility. The director stated the facility has water tables once a week in summer-fall season. S4 has a current water safety certificate. |
