25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) S. Hawkins met with the director, Shelley Burnett, for an Annual Required inspection. This is a parent co-op program. The school has 4 sessions: Mon, Wed, Fri AM session 9:00am- 11:30am, Mon, Wed,Thurs. PM session 12:00pm - 2:30pm, Tues/Thursday AM session 9:00 - 11:30am, Tues./Friday 11:30am-2pm. LPA toured the facility, including all activity/classroom areas, the isolation area, restrooms and outdoor play areas. LPA observed 24 preschool children with 1 staff (director) and 4 parent volunteers. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who required caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
During the inspection of the indoor activity space, items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. Poisons/Hazardous Items are not kept on the premises. The children are provided snack for each session which are provided by the volunteer parents. Lunch is provided by parents daily. Food prep areas were clean and sanitary. Food is properly stored. Menus were posted where they could be reviewed by parents. Floors, equipment, and furniture were clean and were observed to be in good repair and free of sharp edges. There is drinking water available to children indoors by filtered water and cups. The children's bathrooms are clean and sanitary. The program is a half day program and children do not nap during program. The facility has conducted an emergency drill within the past six months. The facility has a working carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher. Facility met all posting requirement. The California Child Passenger Safety Law was posted by the entrance of the facility
Staff files were reviewed for staff present during the facility inspection this date. 1 staff and 6 parent volunteer files were reviewed. Education requirements were reviewed and verified for staff.
