25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tran conducted an onsite inspection for the purpose of an Annual Inspection. LPA and the facility representative toured the facility inside and outside. Census was taken in individual classrooms. The overall census observed was 5 preschool children in the classroom A2 with 1 staff member, 7 preschool children in classroom A3 with 1 staff member, 17 preschool children (from classrooms A4 and B5 on the playground and 2 staff members, zero children in classrooms A6 and B5. Director stated the preschool is not utilizing the B4 classroom. During verification of the floor and yard plan (LIC 999), classroom A2 was not included in the terms of the license, deficiency was observed and discussed with the Director. Director stated the room A2 has always been used for preschool since 1990, and at that time it was listed as room A3 on facility sketch.
During the inspection it was determined the facility is operating within its licensed capacity and within compliance of staff to child ratios. Facility hours are 7a.m.-6p.m., Monday through Friday.
A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date 10/16/23 indicates all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
During the inspection of the indoor activity space, items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. Poisons/Hazardous Items are not kept on the premises. Food prep areas were clean and sanitary. Food is properly stored. Floors, equipment, and furniture were clean and observed to be in good repair and free of sharp edges. There is drinking water available to children indoors by water bottles and filtered water. The facility has conducted lead testing for their drinking outlets. |
