Complainant alleged that a child was released to a parent because staff from the daycare did not arrive at the school grounds to pick the children. Complainant stated that a staff member was found in the car in the parking lot but did not enter the school grounds to pick up the kindergartners. In addition, on 10/03/23, the complainant reported that staff were late picking up day care children from school, and the children had to wait in the office.
During the staff interviews, Staff #1 (S1) disclosed that at 2:35pm, S1 received a call from elementary school stated that 3 students were waiting in the office because our facility staff were late, S1 told the office that a staff was sent to pick up the kids’ long time ago. S1 called Staff #3 (S3) right away, and S3 told S1 that staff was unable to park in the teacher’s spot and was asked by the school supervisor to move the van, that was the reason why S3 was late, and S3 was in the front of the school, instead of the back. S1 called the elementary office back to explain the situation, then the elementary office released the children and said everything was ok, next time, the facility van can park in the teacher’s parking space. When S1 questions S3 about a child that was released to a parent, S3 stated a child was with another parent when S3 got there at the elementary school, and S3 thought that was the child’s mother. S3 is no longer working at the facility, LPA called and left multiples messages for staff to call back, S3 did not return calls.
LPA interviewed S2 who stated on the day of the incident, staff was off. S2 states never being late to pick up the children, S2 has a spot where they stand, and the older children come to staff and the younger children are released to staff once teacher sees S2.
LPA Nguyen interviewed three children in care, two out of the three children stated that facility staff have been late picking them up from elementary school, so they waited in the elementary school office.
LPA called 8 parents, LPA was able to interview 3 parents on 10/23/23. All parents interviewed made no disclosures.
Based on the information gathered from LPA's interviews with 2 staff members , 4 parents, 3 chidlren and reviewing records of facility's Parent Handbook by LPA, it has been determined that facility staff are not arriving in a timely manner to pick day-care children up. Continued on Page 9099C |
