32 | The center provides lunch and two snacks to the children. The director stated the food is delivered from the university kitchen. Drinking water is available at the facility to clients in care. The LPA observed that the facility’s floors, equipment, furniture, and clients’ bathrooms were clean, in good repair, and free of sharp edges. The facility meets all posting requirements.
OUTDOOR INSPECTION. The LPA inspected the indoor areas identified in the LIC999 Facility Sketch. The playground was enclosed by a fence. At the time of inspection, the surface of the outdoor activity area was maintained and free of any observable hazards. The areas around and under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and other similar equipment were cushioned with material that absorbs falls. The outdoor equipment and toys are in good repair and free of sharp edges. There are no bodies of water present at the facility. The inspected outdoor facility grounds are safe, sanitary and in good repair.
PERSONNEL RECORDS. Staff files were reviewed for staff present during the facility inspection on this date. Beginning September 1, 2016, Health and Safety (H&S) 1597.622 states, a person shall not be employed or volunteer at a family day care home if he or she has not been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles. Proof of immunization against pertussis, measles for staff members were reviewed and within compliance. Beginning March 31, 2018, H&S Code 1596.8662 requires all directors and employees to complete mandated reporting training and to renew the training every two years. At least one staff member present possesses current EMSA approved Pediatric CPR/First Aid certifications that expires on 10/2024.
CHILDREN’S RECORDS. Children's records were reviewed. There was a separate, complete and current record for each child. The facility uses Procare software to complete the sign in/out procedure. The person who signs the child in/out uses their full legal signature and records the time of the day via a fingerprint scan.
LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. The Incidental Medical Services policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Staff are trained in the Six Rights of Medication Administration; a training about medication administration provided by a private party. |
