25 | On June 2, 2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) A. Silva conducted an unannounced Required – 1 Year inspection assisted by licensee Loretta Sanchez-Salas. Upon arrival, the licensee had no clients in care. The licensee’s grandchildren (all school age) were in the home during the inspection because school is off. The facility was operating within its licensed capacity and within compliance of staff-to-child ratios. An on-site Facility Personnel Report Summary review showed that all facility residents, staff, or other individuals who require background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. 2 adults, including the licensee, currently living in the home.
INDOOR INSPECTION. The LPA inspected the indoor FCCH (Family Child Care Home) area identified in the Facility Sketch LIC999 and areas accessible to clients. Off-limits areas were inaccessible to clients in care with child gates at the time of inspection. The facility was equipped with working carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, working telephone service, and at least one fire extinguisher that meets statutory and State Fire Marshall standards. The licensee stated she keeps an operating land line for the day care. The licensee is aware that each FCCH shall conduct fire drills and disaster drills at least once every six months. A record review shows that the last drill was documented on 03/30/23. The fireplace is covered with a large screen TV. The licensee stated that there are no firearms and/or other dangerous weapons in the facility; none were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and other items that could pose a danger if readily available were inaccessible to clients in care. No poisons or other items that could pose a danger to clients were observed during the inspection.
OUTDOOR: The backyard is off limits.
PERSONNEL RECORDS: The licensee has a current Mandated Reporter and a current CPR/First Aid certificate
CHILDRENS’ RECORDS: The licensee stated the facility has not had any children in care for approximately 1.5 years.
