25 | A case management visit was conducted on this date by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Connolly. The purpose for today’s visit was to evaluate the facility for a capacity increase. Facility is currently licensed for 104 preschool age children two to six years old and requesting to increase to 160 children.
Facility had originally operated with capacity at 160 and at one point reduced to capacity 104. Facility is now requesting to increase back to 160.
LPA met with director Denise Slocum. The facility was toured, and census taken. There were 15 children in care in the facility’s summer program with 3 attending staff. Facility will begin the regular school year on 8/26/19 in rooms B -120, B-124, B-117, B-121, B-125, B-129, B-126 and B-130. The facility is currently operating a summer program utilizing rooms B 120 and B 126 only.
The playground has been modified to include a fenced off area for the two-year-old class. This sectioned off area is within the established playground. There is a gate that will allow the two year old children to have access to the remaining playground.
All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Storage for children's belongings and an isolation area with sink, toilet, and mat/cot were inspected. Availability of drinking water was reviewed. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, paper towels, area safety and sanitation. A review of medication policy, including administering, labeling, storage, and records was made. A copy documenting the practice of disaster drills was obtained and application reflecting an increase to 160 children. Posting requirements, children records, mandated reporter training, unusual incident reporting were reviewed as well as criminal records clearances/exemption transfer requests.
