25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Patricia Duron conducted an unannounced Case Management visit for the purpose to discuss the Lead Sampling re-testing conducted on 11/19/22. LPA explained the reason for today’s visit when I met with Director, Gerardo Soto LPA observed 78 preschool children in care.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018 requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCC’s) constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their drinking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every five years after the date of the first test.
Community Care Licensing was notified that lead water testing conducted at the facility on 11/19/22 failed the allowable limit for lead. The Purpose of today’s visit is to follow up lead re-testing results of Action Level Exceedances (ALE). Facility had a Plan of Correction, which they completed and retested outlet F, which is now outlet A due to the re-test and new label. Due to outlet’s re-test result of 7.8 for outlet A, facility has been flushing outlet from 12/5/22 to 12/21/22 every day four times a day, with the water running for two minutes every flush. Director stated facility will continue to flush outlet until the outlet is re-tested again in January. LPA observed flushing log with dates and times facility has been flushing outlet. LPA observed the Lead Sample Report posted on the front of the building visible to parents/ guardians.
