25 | On Monday July 10 of 2023, at 9:00 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) A. Silva conducted an unannounced Required – 1 Year inspection assisted by Director Holly Shobe. Upon arrival, total census was 19 clients under 24 months of age (7 in the infant room and 12 in the toddler room). The facility was operating within its licensed capacity and within compliance of staff to child ratios. Facility hours are 6 a.m.- 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. An on-site Facility Personnel Report Summary review showed that all facility staff or other individuals who require background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
INDOOR INSPECTION. The LPA inspected the indoor areas identified in the LIC999 Facility Sketch and areas accessible to clients at the time of inspection. The facility was equipped with working carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, working telephone service, and at least one fire extinguisher that meets statutory and State Fire Marshall standards. A record review shows that the last drill was documented on 5/19/23.
The director stated that there are no firearms and/or other dangerous weapons in the facility; none were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and other items that could pose a danger if readily available were inaccessible to clients in care. No poisons or other items that could pose a danger to clients were observed during the inspection. Clients in the infant room sleep on cribs and clients in the toddler room nap on cots. According to the director, beddings are stored individually and washed daily. The facility provides age-appropriate toys, play equipment, and materials for the clients served. The LPA observed that the facility’s floors, equipment, furniture, and changing tables were clean, in good repair, and free of sharp edges. The facility meets all posting requirements.
ON-SITE FOOD PREPARATION: The center provides breakfast, snack, and lunch to the children. At the time of inspection, food prep areas were clean and sanitary, and food was properly stored. Filtered drinking water is available to clients in care. |
