25 | An unannounced inspection was conducted today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Mahnaz (Nancy) Malek for the purpose of adding Toddler Option Component to the existing preschool capacity. LPA met with the assistant director, Sandra Abril. The director, Dina Ross was not present. Census was taken. There were a total of 38 napping and awake preschool children with 9 staff in rooms 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8. Rooms 1, 5, and 6 were unused. LPA met additional 4 staff who were not involved with children at the facility. Classroom # 1 has been designated for Toddler Option Program. Room # 1 was inspected. The small playground has been designed for children for Toddler Option Program. The playground was inspected for safety, good condition of equipment, including appropriate cushioning material around and under climbing/slide equipment (wood chips and sand).This program runs for toddlers ages 18 months to 36 months old. The teacher child ratio for this program is one teacher to 6 toddlers. The facility has requested to include 12 toddlers in the existing preschool capacity.
A review of criminal record clearances indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
The Notice of Site Visit was posted. Facility representative was informed that the Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 consecutive days. Failure to post will result in civil penalties of $100. The licensee was provided a copy of their appeal right (LIC 9058 1/16) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these rights. All appeals must be in writing and received by the Licensing office within 15 business days. First level appeal is to Regional Manager, address is above on the report.
An updated pamphlet regarding safe sleep regulations in childcare and a pamphlet for lead poisoning facts were given to the director on the last inspection.
An updated license will be issued to run the requested toddler option program after receiving the following documents:
A copy of transcripts including infant/toddler units for staff # 1.
No deficiency was cited today.
