An Annual Random inspection was conducted at the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Connolly. LPA observed licensee and assistant Emily Land caring for 10 children which included 3 infants and 7 preschool age. Licensee was operating within the licensed capacity as specified on license. A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates all facility residents, staff, or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances. Currently there are two adults including the licensee living in the facility.

During today’s inspection, LPA and licensee toured the inside and outside areas identified on the facility sketch as accessible to child care children. Off limits areas within the home are made inaccessible by means of a gate at the bottom of the staircase leading to the second story of the home. The door leading to the garage, another off limit area, is locked. Licensee said the primary areas of day care are the living room, family room, kitchen/dining area, downstairs den serving as a play room and downstairs hallway bathroom.

There are working carbon monoxide, smoke detector, and fire extinguisher in the home that meet statutory and State Fire Marshall standards. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, and other items which could pose a danger if readily available to children are stored inaccessible to children. Licensee stated there are no firearms and/or other dangerous weapons in the facility and none were observed during today's inspections. There is a fireplace in the family room screened by metal grating and inaccessible to children in care. The home has age appropriate toys for the ages served. During today’s inspection LPA observed the licensee's health cards current until 11/27/2020. The licensee does have a current roster of children in care. LPA verified there is a working telephone service. LPA reviewed children files to ensure children immunizations are maintained and a copy of the Family Child Care Home Notification of Parents' Rights has been provided to child's parents or representative.
