A review of staff records on this date indicated that all facility staff or other individuals who required caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
The Department received a complaint on 06/08/2020 alleging lack of supervision of the childcare children, and that the licensee does not provide a safe environment. The allegation indicates there was childcare children are allowed to play in the alley behind the complex, and the licensee allows the children to run out and play unsupervised. It was also reported that when the children play in the back alley, they are very noisy.
During the investigation LPA Odom interviewed complaining party, 2 staff members, 2 adults, and 7 parents. LPA reviewed the Children’s Roster, printed pictures of the location, including the front and back of the outside location in question via Google Maps.
During an interview on 06/17/2020, the licensee stated she received a recorded message from a neighbor, name not disclosed, stating “the kids were too loud”. Licensee, stated, another time while walking with the children a neighbor told her they work from home and “the children are loud”. Licensee stated children play in the back yard and front yard for about 20-30 minutes and take walks around 11:00am 20-30 minutes.
LPA Odom interviewed two staff. Both staff stated the licensee had told them that neighbors have complained that the children are too loud. The staff stated the children usually play outside at 11:00am, in the backyard and in the alley. Staff stated licensee supervises the younger children in the backyard, while staff #2 supervises the older children in the alley. The older children play in the alley with bikes, and balls. Staff #1 stated she watches 5-6 children outside, and the other children stay inside with licensee. Both staff stated cars do not drive up and down the alley, and the cars park and drive on the street in front of the homes.
Two adults were interviewed on 10/07/2020. Adult #2 stated that on 06/24/2020 a noise complaint was received from homeowners, and a letter was sent to the owner and tenant addressing the noise violation
