25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Jungmi Han and LPA Jordann Nelson conducted an unannounced annual/random inspection of the facility on today's date. LPAs toured the facility with the director, Perla Arrieta inside and outside. Census was taken in individual classrooms. The overall census observed was 22 school age children and 2 school age staff. A review of staff criminal clearance records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Operating hours are 6:30 am- 6:30 pm, Mon-Fri.
The items which could pose a danger to children such as detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications were stored out of the reach of children. Poisons/Hazardous Items are not kept on the premises. Food is prepared on site; lunch and snacks are provided. Food prep areas appear clean and sanitary. Food is properly stored. On site kitchen is free from hazards. The toys, floors, desks and other equipment appeared clean. There is drinking water available to children both indoors and outdoors.
LPAs observed the playground access door’s bar is broken. LPA took a picture to record. The facility has conducted an emergency drill within the past six months. The facility has a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and fire extinguisher. The playground was completely fenced. The playground equipment appeared in safe condition. There is sufficient cushioning underneath climbing structures and play equipment to absorb falls. Sign in/out procedure was reviewed for compliance. LPA reviewed facility’s electronic sign in and out. Director stated the sign in and out system allows to provide only two codes per child. The facility gives away two codes for each family. When parent, family friend, or relative picks up child, the person needs to go to sign in and out machine first. When the person signs in or out with code, the facility staff verifies the person by comparing their ID information and child information card. LPA verified the child information card has list of “Persons Authorized to Pick Up child”. Once front desk person verifies, the person can go to classroom to pick up child. When the person goes to classroom to pick up, classroom teacher verifies the person’s name by asking. Classroom staff write departure time and his/her name. |
