25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Romy Castanon conducted an onsite inspection for the purpose of a 1 year Annual. LPA and Director Danae Ferria toured the facility inside and outside and the floor and yard plan (LIC 999) were verified. Census was taken in 2 individual classrooms. In the infant room, LPA observed 3 infants with 2 staff members. There were 9 toddlers with 3 staff members in the toddler turtle room. During the inspection it was determined the facility is operating within its licensed capacity and within compliance of staffing ratios. A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.
During the inspection of the indoor activity space, items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, and medications) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children locked in cabinets. Poisons/Hazardous Items are not kept on the premises. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers that are kept on, and are in good repair. The Director takes measures to keep the facility free of flies, other insects and rodents. Bottles, dishes and containers of food brought by the infant’s authorized representative are labeled with the infant’s name and current date.
Snack food is prepared on site, lunch is brought from home. Food prep areas were clean and sanitary. Food is properly stored and labeled. Menus were posted where they could be reviewed by parents. Floors, equipment, and furniture were clean and were observed to be in good repair and free of sharp edges. There is drinking water available to children indoors via dispenser or their own water bottles brought from home. Infant changing tables are placed within arm’s reach of a sink. The facility has age appropriate furniture and equipment including, but no limited to, cribs, cots, or mats, changing table and feeding chairs. A baby walker was not observed during today’s visit. A rocker was observed to be recalled on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission website and was removed immediately.
