A case management inspection was conducted on this date by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Stacy Torrence. The purpose for today’s inspection was to evaluate the facility for a capacity increase and a change in classrooms. LPA met with Veronica Berber-Aceves, Early Learning Specialist. At this time, the children are participating in the virtual learning program; therefore, there are no children or staff present. Facility is currently licensed for 44 children and seeking to increase capacity to 48 children. Facility is also requesting to replace classroom #404 with classroom #505. The facility is currently licensed for the following classrooms: #404, #505, and #506. According to Ms. Veronica, classroom #404 will no longer be utilized. This facility is located on the Garfield Elementary School site. The facility has a waiver to share playground and bathrooms with the elementary kindergarten children on a rotating schedule. The facility operates Monday-Friday 8am-4pm with a full and part-time program (AM session:8-11am; PM session: 12-3pm), serving children ages 2 through 5 years old.

A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who required caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions.

All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. Office area is located in the front corner of the building and will serve as the isolation area for ill children temporarily until parents arrive. The staff bathroom will be used as the isolation bathroom and is conveniently located close to the isolation area. Medication will be stored in a locked box. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, paper towels, area safety and sanitation. Drinking water in the indoor activity space will be supplied by a water faucet. First Aid supplies were inventoried. Sign in / sign out record meets regulation requirements.

Full day program serves breakfast, lunch, PM snack. Part day program serves lunch for the AM and PM session. Food is provide by the School District.

Indoor Activity Space Measurements:
Classroom #505: 871 sqft.
Classroom #506: 871 sqft.
Total= 1742 sqft. divided by 35 = 49 children

Total children toilets and sinks:
toilets 6 x 15 = 90 children
sinks 8 x 15 = 120 children
urinals 2 x 5= 10 children
Playground is completely enclosed. Outdoor activity area is supplied with age and size appropriate equipment including slide and swings. An adequate amount of cushioning material is in place under the equipment. Shade is provided by a canopy and water fountain provides drinking water.

Based on today's inspection, facility has enough space for the requested increase capacity of 48 preschoolers (ages 2-5 years old).

Facility provides Incidental Medical services.

In the areas evaluated, no deficiency was observed and cited today per CA Code of Regulations, Title 22, and Division 12.

Facility meets all licensing requirements and file will be submitted for approval.

Exit interview was conducted. A copy of this report and appeal rights were discussed and provided to the director. The Notice of Site Visit was posted. The director was informed that the Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 consecutive days. Failure to post will result in civil penalties of $100.
